Opinion: Understanding Our Contributions (or lack there of) to Social Networks

There are several reasons people can feel compelled to stay out of dialogues on both social networking platforms and Internet discussions.

On one side, the ever-consistent saturation of conversation can cause one to be unsure where their attention should focus. Overwhelming and exhausting, it is almost required to shut one’s self out in order to maintain some aspect of “breathing room.”

Going along with the cause of the first problem – many questions, blog posts and discourses have already been had on several occasions to extreme extents. Posting a blog for the sake of becoming an active member of the Internet is much like posting another thirty-second video of one’s cat doing something adorable You Tube, it can feel unnecessary and wasteful.

This is not to say that information should never be reposted, quite the contrary. We as the collective members of a greater, more-diversified discussion need to find new angles on these subjects, stimulating progression rather than stagnation.

This simple post is an urge to all content developers out there to reach out to your interests, call attention to something beyond their core, and keeping pushing further and higher.

YOUR OPINION COUNTS: Why do you think people join groups on social networking platforms but then don’t contribute to them?
