Just joined up w/ BNI myself. Though a bit of a racket with the steep annual fee, they do obsess about providing value to their members. The chapter I joined, with just 36 (now 37) members has generated $1.2 million in revenue this year from referrals alone. That's not bad, considering most of these folks aren't charging an arm and a leg for their services.

RE the 529 plan... just go to Fidelity.com and sign up for it. No hand-holding required.
